CAAM-HP
The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). It is empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programmes in medical, dental, veterinary, and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties within CARICOM. CAAM-HP serves as the means of providing quality assurance that generates confidence among the principal stakeholders, including students and the public.
Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC)
The Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC) is the official quality assurance and accreditation body for post-secondary and tertiary education in Barbados. It was established by the Barbados Accreditation Council Act and operates under the Ministry of Education. BAC registers, accredits and re-accredits educational institutions and programmes, ensuring they meet defined national quality standards. It also provides recognition and equivalency of local and foreign qualifications, supports the CARICOM Skills Certificate for regional labour mobility, and helps verify academic credentials. BAC’s role strengthens confidence in education quality, protects students, and supports national and regional education goals.
General Medical Council – United Kingdom
Bridgetown International University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree has met the acceptability criteria of the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom for the purpose of eligibility to apply for registration, subject to meeting the GMC’s current requirements.
It affirms that graduates who successfully complete the full medical program may apply to sit the PLAB examination and pursue registration with the GMC, following the individual assessment process and fulfillment of all regulatory requirements in place at the time of application. Eligibility to apply for GMC registration provides our graduates with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate training and professional pathways within the United Kingdom healthcare system. The designation reflects the University’s dedication to academic quality, comprehensive clinical training, and preparation of its graduates for global medical practice.

Bridgetown International University School of Medicine has received the ECFMG Sponsor Note designation and is listed accordingly in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). The ECFMG Sponsor Note confirms that graduates of the University are eligible to apply for certification through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), subject to meeting all current ECFMG requirements.
